Rep. George Santos, a Republican from New York, submitted a new statement of candidacy to the Federal Election Commission, which will enable him to continue raising money for his campaign.
Santos, who is embroiled in numerous scandals and is under investigation by the FBI, local law enforcement, Prosecutors in Brazil and most recently the House Ethics Committee, submitted paperwork to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday, which leaves the door open for Santos to run for reelection but does not guarantee it. The contentious legislator has not yet formally declared whether he would seek for reelection, but he has made it clear that he is considering it.
