(FWD) – The House passed landmark legislation that federally protects same-sex and interracial marriages Thursday. The bill, which already passed in the Senate, is not headed to President Biden to sign into law.

The Respect for Marriage Act received a vote 258 to 169, with one Republican voting “present.”

The passage of the bill is a celebrated moment following the tragic shooting targeting LGBTQ members at Club Q in Colorado Springs last month.
